“Perhaps the quickest way to understand the elements of what a novelist is doing is not to read, but to write; to make your own experiment with the dangers and difficulties of words...” From How Should One Read a Book by Virginia Woolf Writers, have you found writing improves your reading?

I have found that reading improves your writing. I guess it works both ways. When I got into the habit of reading, my writing improved drastically. I haven't really set out to figure out if my reading improves because of my writing. However, when you think of it, it does make sense. I became a better editor when I started reading more.

It has changed my perspective on reading for sure. I have a much more analytical view of how words on a page are constructed. Not necessarily a critical view, it feels more like discovery every time.

Yes. I notice how other writers approach a turn of phrase or structure logical arguments.
