Reading a reasonable article about crypto in the mainstream media and then get to this line: โ€œEven stablecoins, though, have failed to gain much use outside of speculative trading, and the occasional money laundering operationโ€ Speculative trading ofโ€ฆ stablecoins? ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ

To be fair, *if* I wanted to make this argument, it would be that stables are part of speculation as trading pairs. You speculate or leverage vs a stable, for example.

It means people use stablecoins to do speculative trading (i.e. as an on-ramp) not that the stable coins themselves are speculative. And it would be accurate if I had to guess because most major exchanges pair against stable coins for the most part.
