DAOs or user-owned networks are like cooperatives. Cooperatives can earn revenue. The distinction of capitalismās versus socialismās ārevenueā is the profit incentive and who gets the profit. Especially because they also have the power over how the company is run (and in oligarchies, how the country is run) Donāt let anyone tell you that money, markets, or income has to be absent from leftist ideology; itās a big tent. Leftist conception of these things, which as you mention is very much coded in line with the web3 weāre building, is about equitable distribution of surplus revenue and democratic control of the organizations. I donāt think people on the right understand the bogeyman they think theyāre fighting. Red scare propaganda and garbage propaganda like āThe Little Black Book of Communismā built a wall of bias that even Gorbachev couldnāt tear down.

Thought the major of distinction is private property, and hence roll over to revenue. In China the gov could just take control of āprivate propertyā if they want to without challenge?

Two common conflations here, on top of the conflation of all leftism with state communism. 1. Private property ā personal property. It is specifically referring to the ownership of companies and things like being a landlord. Itās not about your primary residence, car, or your toothbrush. Nor the business that you are the sole employee of (referred to as artisan). Only stocks, factories etc. 2. They are not in most conceptions owned by the state, but by the workers. A soviet is a workersā council and each Soviet is part of broader legislative bodies. Contrary to the way things devolved under Stalin, there is a lot of democratic underpinnings to socialism/communism.
