This guy begs to differ. But seriously, Sinwar has the last word in negotiations. And NOT killing Haniya for the past 10 months didn't result in hostage release either. So its a bit disingenuous to say "but hostages."

I think Israel will eventually assassinate every single one of Hamas' leaders. And I don't think Hamas didn't know that going into Oct 7 (given that that's exactly what Israel did w Black September after the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre - only Oct 7 was an attack on a completely diff scale). Will it "hurt hostage negotiations"? I doubt it because I don't see how its changing the calculus on Hamas' side

Actually it may help negotiations a bit, bc in my understanding part of the agreement they're negotiating deals w giving Hamas leaders immunity from assassinations. So now they know they need to hurry
