convinced quote cast needs to be a thing. can’t count how many times i’ve wanted to qc something

What does quote casting accomplish for you that replying doesn't?

i am more interested in sharing/curating if i can add my take to it. pure rts are spam because my followers didn’t follow other people, they followed me. replies talk to the accounts already involved in the thread, not my audience

Recast and reply. 

Quote tweets fracture the conversation. Further emphasizes broadcast vs. conversation. At its worst, it’s a dunk button. 

Will eventually add it, but features change behavior. :)

Definitely agree… I think a cool alternative/compromise would be to allow “reference” tweets as replies only. That way it’s still a conversation, and it’s not a direct cast. Users would only be allowed to “reference” other casts as replies to other people’s casts.

I guess you can currently do that now with links but some smoother UX where when replying to a cast you can search all your saved casts as references to include in your reply.
