I’ve recently listened to three audiobooks read by their authors: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain War by Sebastian Junger I enjoyed it a great deal. Anyone got a recommendation for an author-narrated book?

Yearbook by Seth Rogen. Greenlight by Matthew McConaughey. Both great audiobooks read by the author.

Don’t have a reco yet, if something comes to mind, I'll share it. But I’ll use the review of Gaiman, since I love his books, but haven’t listened to them on audio yet

No recommendation, but I feel like author-narrated books are the perfect use case for audiobooks. Nobody understands the contents (and where to put the emphasis) better than the very author, and there’s something wistful about listening to an author who passed away tell their story (Bourdain comes to mind). It’s so much more powerful than having just their text. 1000 $DEGEN

Oh, author narrated sound clutch. I don't have a rec, but I will check out those myself. There must be so much more intention behind the narration.

Authors reading their own books adds an extra layer of authenticity and emotion. I recommend "Born a Crime" by Trevor Noah or "Bossypants" by Tina Fey for more great author-narrated audiobooks.
