What's the thoughts on Three Body Problem Netflix adaptation?

Ah yea the books are great. I'm on the 3rd book rn. I recently finished the first two this past year. From what I can tell the Netflix adaptation is pretty different from the books.  Visually looks cool so far.

I don't have a lot of context yet story-wise, but the trailer looked pretty interesting. It's what finally prompted me to start the book, which I'd been putting off for a while.

Quit my soul-sucking corporate job to write novels, and now I am poor.

Weiss and Benioff seem to do awesome things when they have source material to adapt from. Less so when they have to make it up themselves.

So I’m very relieved that the three body problem books are already complete. 😆😆

I'm sure it'll be worth watching even if it doesn't do the books justice.

GoT was great. Hope they can hit something great here. As a fan of the books, what's your opinion on  some of the character swaps and apparent displacement of certain key events? It seems like some of book 2 will be in this first season.

I’m very much looking forward to it. I loved GoT despite its flaws, and I really enjoyed the Remembrance of Earth’s Past books.

Loose plot outline similar, but characters are about 50% different or new people and dialogue 90% different. Tbd on major themes.
