kinda crazy half of CT was just in singapore and they’re all arguing about some party instead of highlighting that you can literally pay for the your Uber-equivalent with crypto and that most of Singapore is immigrants who send $$ across borders and often use crypto to do so

i reckon most of this volume will not be on/settled on ethereum either; prolly on tron or another chain highly ignored, made fun of by ethereum maxi folks

Yes, and usdt/usdc have large volumes too. 

I believe a lot has to do with MiniPay by Opera in Africa.

Since I spoke with @freeatnet.eth at Devconnect '23, I've been bothered by Justin Sun & Tron capturing the stablecoin market. It's not only less secure than Ethereum but also much more expensive than L2s.

A few weeks ago I met Marek - Co-Founder of Celo - and he told me that Celo has almost the same stablecoin usage as Tron. 

They have a partnership with Opera (yes, the browser we used to download to get rid of IE) that's apparently very popular in mobile-dominated Africa and integrated a stablecoin wallet inside the browser. Plus they did tons of other things described by Marek in this essay.

I'm happy that Celo will soon become an L2.
