Founders who only rely on metrics to gage progress are… NGMI There are many intangible and intuition based ways to gage progress and to make decisions on what to act and not act on There are things you know you must do even if it doesn’t directly impact short metrics and bottom line Obviously you also can’t build your whole project around these, but focusing only on quantifiable metrics (especially vanity metrics) is the result of little self confidence and needing to be reassured by objective data

I think the best people you can hope to work with as a founder challenge you but have the humility to accept you pushing back too Which means you also need the ability to accept to be challenged and to change your mind where it is necessary All about that balance

Cool features without a vision go nowhere and great vision without a clear product and operational roadmap won’t go anywhere either

I'm realizing I was much too focused on efficiency in my first years as a founder There's this talk of productivity that leads to considering team members as task doers only and at how you can extract more out of a single person Thank god I'm not more interested in the relationship with these people and more accepting to the output because the nature of that relationship is more fulfilling (and greater rapport also leads to better collaboration and output which also helps the more rational part of the mind justify hanging out when you "should" be working on productive tasks)

Following one’s passion may not be the solution for everyone, sometimes you need to prioritize other needs first and that’s fine But when you are completely aligned with yourself and work everyday in something that feels like an extension of you, it’s satisfying to levels you couldn’t believe In the last week, at least 4 people have said they are joining @jointhesoci3ty because they see how passionate I am I haven’t perfected the pitch to the T, it’s progressed naturally and I never go into any meeting with an agenda, I just go, be myself and share the dream I have to build a world driven by empathy and unity and it resonates with everyone I hope anyone reading this reaches that point in their life where they can work on something that is to them what The Soci3ty is to me

Would love any insight as to why I am getting no engagement at all in here I’m trying to build the habit of sharing thoughts here more but it’s not very encouraging!

There's something that feels like magic when you do things with your heart and organically Every single interaction I have with people joining @jointhesoci3ty happens naturally, they see the vision and the passion and when they're inspired it inevitably leads to more connections of the sort and instant collaboration When you try to "acquire" users or secure funding from people you don't trust and aren't aligned with, it's fraught with friction every step of the way, you have to fight your way through I choose the former every time: slow, steady and with heart

Doing 100 calls to invite the first 100 citizens of @jointhesoci3ty, show me a state (nation or network) that does this!

Creating a nation is about creating a story of people, you can read the beginnings of ours over here and in the previous editions

There’s something really thrilling about knowing you’re onto something great but only a handful people know about it I’m excited to see it reach tens of thousands, but I am also deeply enjoying these last few weeks of stealth

What do you think is the hardest thing about being a founder? For me it has to be the need to be comfortable with constant uncertainty. I don't think we're wired for it, I think we need things to be certain to be naturally at peace, but being a founder, you have to be ok with a huge chunk of your life to be uncertainty. Because if you try to be in control of components of you project/business that don't need to be at the time, you lose valuable time and resources.

The distribution of a NS currency is a top top priority in my opinion and I've put considerable effort into planning how we distribution The Soci3ty's In the end, we decided, unlike many others, to do a citizen first pre-seed round, going for more decentralization rather than powerful backers This is a gamble that rewards believers and creates a strong network effect but I am yet to see how more institutional investors will react Let me know what you think! Would love some feedback

I want us to find a system where a builder’s first impression is dissociated from the social media following I feel there is an unspoken law that you’re taking less or more seriously based on who follows you when time spent in the arena and building real and deep relationships matters a lot more to your success How do we fix this?

Just wanted to share my gratitude for discovering vipassana It's been almost a year of daily practice, approximate calculations put me around 600 hours in total, course included And wow, it blows my mind how much my life as improved on absolutely all fronts: relationship with my partner, relationship with myself, capacity to do work for longer stretches of time, capacity to achieve more in less time as well, levels of energy are through the rough even when sleep isn't at 100% and I could go on
