if you’re a tech type person and are looking for a side quest may I suggest picking up drawing. it’s a skill that anybody can learn and what it really is is learning how to see. costs nothing, can do it anywhere and if you peck away at it diligently you can be better than 99.9% of the world in about a year. rewires your brain in unexpected ways.

I've got a friend who is great at cooking, and the easiness and grace with she chops things up is just incredible. I asked her how she learned to do it like that, she answered that she went to an art school and her hand was trained by many hours of sketching 😅

I've been trying to get into this and it really makes you a good observer, even tho my sketches still suck. This is fine I tell myself, thinking of KK telling us we should all allow ourselves to be bad at something.

Great advice!!! Drawing really can be an amazing way to develop creativity and improve perceptual skills. It is an activity that helps you learn to observe the world around you closely and express your observations on paper. It is affordable, inexpensive and can be a source of pleasure and fulfilment, speaking as an artist.

That's an interesting take! Drawing really does open up a whole new way of seeing the world. I agree that it's a valuable skill that anyone can pick up with patience and practice. It’s not just about art, but also about rewiring how we perceive and create. Definitely something worth considering for a side quest!
