if you’re a tech type person and are looking for a side quest may I suggest picking up drawing. it’s a skill that anybody can learn and what it really is is learning how to see. costs nothing, can do it anywhere and if you peck away at it diligently you can be better than 99.9% of the world in about a year. rewires your brain in unexpected ways.

copying art you like, picking up just about any ‘how to’ kind of book, watching YouTube videos. creating an insta or something where you post daily to keep accountable and measure improvement. picking a subject matter you like and focusing on that. The book ‘Drawing on the right side of the brain’ was helpful for me. I also copied a ton of da Vinci and van Gogh

I went on a drawing side quest during the pandemic. Enjoyed it for sure

I've got a friend who is great at cooking, and the easiness and grace with she chops things up is just incredible.
I asked her how she learned to do it like that, she answered that she went to an art school and her hand was trained by many hours of sketching 😅

I've been trying to get into this and it really makes you a good observer, even tho my sketches still suck.

This is fine I tell myself, thinking of KK telling us we should all allow ourselves to be bad at something.
