public ledgers, open source, DAOs, CC0 are all far left coded ideals. curious how the more right leaning crypto space squares these bedrock concepts.

A couple anti-far-left aspects of crypto: Far left is pro censorship (when they are the ones doing it), and crypto is perfected censorship resistance. Far left is pro government-based ownership (when they are the ones doing the owning), and crypto is perfected individual ownership. However, the fact that crypto has ideals from both sides is something I love about it. But I believe it is well on its way to becoming heavily "right coded" in political reality.

Very true in the circle theory sense (that all opposite radicalisms begin to resemble each other). I think it's not accidental that libertarianism tends to be more incompatible with the left than the right.

i'm thinking of all the censorship stuff form the last 100 years in the states (Hays Code etc.) and that was all coming from the right.

Agree, if we extend the time horizon of what we're describing with "left"/"right' things look pretty different. (Actually do this over centuries and we it will not resemble our current meaning of these words at all, but in a way that is very interesting and revealing) My thinking in all this stuff is pretty skewed to the last 10-20 years, in the US Centric left. This is partially due to bias of course but also bc this is the piece that feels relevant in the sense that it's actionable
