the receive button in most wallets should be a request button. https://zora.co/collect/zora:0x5abf0c04ab7196e2bdd19313b479baebd9f7791b/79

usually receive means copying an address, and there are more efficient ways to retrieve that. request should send a push notification to another user for a venmo-like payment request.

request doesn't encompass deposits well. i think receive is an attempt to cover both deposit and request

Hard disagree, imagine the spam with all of the wallets being public. That would be a nightmare to deal with on the receiving end for many people.

It is different scenarios and what button should be on the main screen is decided by the frequency of usage: - Request, as you said. I agree that there is such scenario. - Copy address. More often, I just need to copy my address, to use it in other products, like explorers, DeBank etc. But I’m not representative :)

There was this cool project called Wooppay.xyz that allowed for sending a kind of request. I used to have a $5 “buy me a coffee” one linked on my Bento. I think this is @daimo’s thing too right? I don’t view Request and Receive as the same thing but maybe Copy Address and a Request that’s like Daimo/Woop

One of the oldest UX issues in crypto. I’ve seen several projects try to solve this pain point, including one called Request Network from back in the day. XMTP might be a good idea, def not without its own set of caveats and security concerns.
