What’s the ideal background for today’s web3 product manager? 

I used to think engineering but more and more we need to be challenging UX standards in web3, and our PMs might be better off coming in from the product design world.

The ideal product manager often changes depending on where you are in a products life cycle. If the product suit is large enough to support multiple product managers it is usually a good idea to have different kinds of pms on the team so they cross pollinate.

In my experience (team of 3 pms) the ideal distribution is one very technical pm (knows how products work) one customer use expert pm (knows how products are used), and one sales marketing expert pm is a balanced distribution. Its very hard to find new pms with expertise in all three area. Responsibility can be rotated

Agree. Early stage pm is different from later stage.
