Fun fact: I met one of the founders of Yo (or rather the guy who requested it). Also the guy who hacked Yo and ended up working for them was apparently part of Gas team (of teenage extraction fame)?!

"Many tech giants have already spent years trying to replicate TikTok’s algorithm without quite succeeding." Why do you think it's so hard to replicate the algorithm? Was PageRank ever successfully copied in any way? IIRC the TikTok algo does not require a huge data moat.
