I love this prompt - I've met so many crypto people who had really early + formative experiences on the internet My answer is RuneScape. I played RS from age 7-11 and that was the first time I made friends online who didn't share my same geography. It gave me a bigger imagination and bigger sense of the world.

I don’t think people just come into crypto to make money Sure, everyone wants to make a bag, but they want to do that while also being part of systems change in areas that matter to them The nihilists are a loud minority, but aren’t accurate representatives of the industry imo

people in tech talk a lot about this idea of "ephemeral apps" ie. products, games, experiences that are short lived I like the idea of adapting that into writing an "ephemeral" memoir like, instead of boring & drawn out chapters, think ~40 memories or moments that tell your life story but in little 500 word blips

This is a great prompt for all words nerds The first person that came to mind for me was David Foster Wallace DFW has an essay on Roger Federer that is the best sports writing I've ever read. Dude just had a way with words & broke the 20th century consensus of Hemingway imo i.e. moved away from short + literal writing to longer, more chaotic postmodern writing

A lot of people in tech care more about *seeming* important or consequential vs. doing anything real, and it's funny because having that worldview basically means these folks won't ever accomplish anything noteworthy by default because they're afraid of rocking the boat & instead (at best) they end up as high functioning defenders of the status quo because they're looking for validation from existing elites, who, ironically, are mostly interested in people doing the opposite i.e. taking real risks
