I want to run a full node but am not sure about the hardware to buy. Ik there's a lot of resources but they are overwhelming for a hardware newbie like me. I'm looking for someone to hop on a call and guide me thru the purchasing options, where to buy them, and how to set it up Reward: 0.022 ETH or 50 USDC @bountybot

I would get an intel NUC with 4 TB of Memory and 32 GB of RAM. Happy to hop on a call or even come over to discuss

I recall this project building the easy stake at home solution. Haven't tried though https://dappnode.com/

latest NUCs 12/13 gen are all fine with i3. Grab a 2TB SSD at least (4TB to future proof) and 32GB RAM. Follow Yorick's great guide to choosing an SSD. Some nuances there you might want to look at. https://gist.github.com/yorickdowne/f3a3e79a573bf35767cd002cc977b038

were you successful? We have a home staker program running right now and all the students are discussing in the ethstaker discord (#dvt-program) this week which hardware to buy and getting lots of feedback! most of them are putting together setups that are <$800

This setup will let you run a full node and is future-proof’d for a while. I can get you a link to it https://warpcast.com/brenner.eth/0xdd6d0f81

A DappNode is probably the easiest way to get set up quickly. If you don't mind to get your hands dirty yourself, you could also decide to build your own. Intel NUCs are great, and you can install DappNode yourself

Make sure you get 4TB and not 2TB as suggested in the website. Other than that, I'm using an Intel Nuc, which works great.

Happy to call but also resources here (cheaper/easier than a Pi imo): https://www.bee-link.com/computer-73493777 SW is straight forward with: https://dappnode.com/ You need a 4tb NVME: https://gist.github.com/yorickdowne/f3a3e79a573bf35767cd002cc977b038

My build is still good: https://www.reddit.com/r/ethstaker/comments/n396tg/a_working_hardware_build_for_staking/. Anything with a 4+ cores recent CPU should do the work. You should also consider a 4 TB SSD instead of a 2 TB. Eth Docker hardware page has suggestions: https://eth-docker.net/Usage/Hardware

Are you familiar with Linux and can you use the command line? If you enjoy working under Linux and have the time, you could also try out the solution from @ethereumonarm or if you want to use a nuc with an Intel processor, https://eth-docker.net/ from @ethstaker

More than happy to help out. I bought a Dell Optiplex 7050 for ~$80, T-Force DDR4 32GB Ram (Amazon ~60) NVMe SSD 2 TB 980 pro (Amazon ~$160)... Running Linux running https://eth-docker.net/ Follow the steps in the link and in about 10 minutes of work you can be staking for $300. Could go on but no space, its easy ask

it really depends on your budget. let me share my experience. even with old laptop, i5-6300, 32gb ram, 512gb ssd is enough already. it only cost me like 150$. after that, you need to consider about the internet. sometimes, residential ISP works behind CGNAT which won't allow you to port forward.
