I think we’ve generally gone in the wrong direction in pursuit of inflated metrics, more mints should be $30 rather than 30¢ People don’t value things that are “free” and the true fans are willing to pay anyway

$30 won't solve it imo. it's more a brand change, both zora and rodeo are social posts, not selling art anymore

They seem confused on whether they're social apps or art collecting apps (very different) and they keep lowering the cost of mints to try to hide the fact that there's money involved but even 30¢ is a lot to mainstream users I think at least at $30 you get the superfans and can offer additional value: if I mint a podcast (that I can listen to without minting), I expect behind-the-scenes, bonus episodes, Q&A, group chat, etc.

imo there are different things here: 1) i get X, i expect Y = this was the case last cycle, and it didn't happen. you paid a higher price for a utility, but not everyone wanted to provide that, and the discussion was around whether art is valued outside of gated experiences 2) zora and rodeo are social apps, focusing on a different onchain behavior. if you want 2021 experiences, then those aren't your platforms https://warpcast.com/tomu.eth/0xb235d0e5

What Zora and Rodeo are building aren’t social apps and I think we should stop pretending that they are. They’re mobile art collecting apps where the price to collect is extremely low and you’re making money off of being a curator. Just because it has followers doesn’t make it a social app.
