Active badge needs a revamp.

i think @zinger made a good point about maybe the better path is not a global badge but local/personalized badges. relevancy to viewing user based on mutual follows

Maybe the active badge should be local to a user's network rather than a global metric i.e. instead of "this user has 400 followers" it's more like "this user is followed by 10 people that you follow"

It's tough to objectively define signal and noise at a network level, might make more sense as "signal for you"

I think something in this direction makes the most sense, anything “objective” at the network level can be gamed (bots engaging with other bots)

The problem with a network-wide “legitimacy badge” is that you’ll always need a source of truth to determine legitimacy by which doesn’t scale (like if you use pre-permissionless users as a baseline)

I think per-channel badges with a graph based on the hosts’ follows + interactions could work though

Side note: I don’t think “active” is the right word to describe what we’re after here (at least not anymore), would be great to give the name a refresh with this next iteration
