Fresh cantaloupe from a farmer selling out of a cart on some old country road hits different than supermarket fare

I can respect that, though I've never had it. 

Supermarket cantaloupe is far too prevalent for how good it is.

I found something recently called a French melon which is similar to a cantaloupe, but I liked it more. The skin is striped and the flesh is orange. Also bought at a farmer's market. What is the best local fruit in Okinawa?
