i was reminded this morning that i lost my Farcaster active badge ... although Farcaster is by far my favorite people-network on the internet. 

here are a few reasons why – throwing it out there if anyone's listening / there are fixes 👇🏽

1/n i almost exclusively use social media on a laptop, while i'm sitting on my desk – warpcast[dot]com almost always asks me to re-auth whenever i open it. my phone is never on my desk, hence i can never successfully "Login with mobile".

Philosophy

3/n same as #2, replying to people in-depth requires using threads, and threading is a yucky practice, especially when not natively supported.

4/n product updates. i missed a few important breaking updates than broke my brain: e.g., the DM upgrade (lost all conversations), or the channel migration (and warp integration). i understand there are no PM/PMM working on Farcaster but i really really really wish there was better community/feature communication.

5/5 and lastly, i've been active on social media (and worked on a bunch of social media products) since 2007 – that's 18 years of pretty much the same paradigms, and it's time for something different. i'm still vouching for Farcaster to be that "something different", but i don't wanna hold my breath.

2/n 140 characters helped Twitter build a distinct brand, but long are the days where that's enough. in fact, i'm very pro long-form social media, and why i begrudgingly give elno $8/mo. short form incentivizes "Hot Takes" and shallow communication. how on earth am i supposed to post on /philosophy, beside scrnshots ?
