Based on what I saw, it didn't seem like it crossed his mind. The full clip shows him saying "My heart goes out to you all," and with that context, it makes more sense - he is throwing his heart out to the crowd. If anything, this looks to me like an accident or just lack of awareness.

Separately, it feels even more strange how comfortable people are labeling others Nazis. (You're not doing that - just making a separate point since I know we're both Jewish)

There is additional context though; his support for the German AfD, the discrimination targeting African American workers at Tesla, his tweets about differing IQ between races... even his facial expression didn't really communicate love to me. It could have been accidental, it could have been intentional, my guess is he thought it'd be funny, but I can understand why people think it was very intentional.

I totally understand that interpretation. In regards to the question of why he'd do this salute, I think about all the racist accounts he's allowed back onto Twitter while simultaneously chasing away lots of other left-leaning accounts, companies and News Orgs, and I think an argument could be made that he wanted to signal to the white supremacy crowd in front of the world. Or he was just being awkward. It's truly hard to know someone's intentions.
