Ok, pitching a new cult:

We want to be into spacefaring, human survival and all that, BUT
We also give a shit about the wellbeing and general qualia of the life that we spread.

"Build a civilization worth spreading".

Prioritizes rational thought, efficiency, all that, but also respect, boundaries, agreements.

Maybe it's just transhumanism. But do these new fasco-rationalists not identify as transhumanist? They just see themselves as rulers as the correct trans-formation? I feel like something about the consensuality of inter-agent relations could be emphasized more.

There's definitely a (at least perceived) lean towards authoritarianism within some people who identify as transhumanist, but I don't think the philosophy itself does. There might be a line to draw between an implementation of transhumanism that emphasize individual freedom/consent and one that tries to push everyone towards their thought leaders' vision

I'm curious to know what groups you see as new fasco-rationalists?

I definitely see that libertarian to authoritarian arc with some techno-optimists and it's pretty sad

Good news is that the other side still exists, maybe it does need a cult to get together

An under-explored bridge is the one between left-wing and right-wing proponents of individual freedom, who both agree on not living under authoritarianism; it's no coincidence these two groups found themselves in crypto, even if they don't really like each other currently.
Maybe the important shift should be in making the libertarian/authoritarian (or progressive/conservative) axis the predominant one instead of the economical left/right one we currently have in the political compass

The left is totally whiffing on technology rn, and they have a lot of the empaths, who are nice to have. I think there’s a not too big conceptual gap to clear between cooperatives and labor organizing and alternative currencies and smart contracts, but somehow it was made a culture war issue so the shields went up. Need bridges.
