Dromos posted this on sustainability in dex emissions. it's a little audacious tl;dr: emissions are not short-term incentives. they're not just structurally sustainable but necessary for outcompeting in the DEX space https://paragraph.xyz/@dromos/sustainability

I deleted X and only using FC now. Third time I’m doing this. 1st time when @dwr.eth onboarded me back in 22. Too early to stick. 2nd time roughly a year ago. Channels overwhelmed me a bit. Third time is the charm?

This was probably inevitable. Closed systems like Telegram typically become less open over time. I have seen this play out over and over at other opaque, centralized messaging services. Hell, I came from this world - of course this is how it would play out. -> If transparency matters, you shouldn't use Telegram. -> If permissionless building matters, you shouldn't use Telegram. -> If privacy & security matter, you shouldn't use Telegram. Transparency and openness must be baked in from inception, ideally at the protocol level, otherwise developers can get rugged at any time. XMTP is designed from the ground up to be a stable, reliable, and open platform for developers to build their best messaging use cases. It’s time to build on foundations not owned by a single person or company. Join us in building XMTP, the world's secure, decentralized messaging network.

TikTok’s ban in the US is a perfect example of why data composability and portability in social apps is so important. More than $TRUMP coin, this should give Americans even more reason to be bullish on Web3. Thousands of creators just lost access to all their hard work, followers, and content in a second. If TikTok was built on a protocol like @farcaster_xyz , even if it was banned, users would still have been able to carry their credibility, credentials, followers, posts, and data to another app. It wouldn’t be lost. There’s probably no better time than now to be vocal about how decentralized infrastructure benefits users and should shape how social apps are built moving forward.

We are indeed currently in the process of large changes to EF leadership structure, which has been ongoing for close to a year. Some of this has already been executed on and made public, and some is still in progress. What we're trying to achieve is primarily the following goals: * Improve level of technical expertise within EF leadership * Improve two-way communications and ties between EF leadership and the ecosystem actors, old and new, that it is our role to support: users (individual and institutional), app devs, wallets, L2s * Bring in fresh talent, improve execution ability and speed * Become more actively supportive of app builders, and make sure important values and inalienable rights (esp privacy, open source, censorship resistance) are a reality for users including at the app layer * Continue to increase our use of decentralized and privacy tech and the Ethereum chain, including for payments and treasury management ...

I throwback to Aug 2022, the start of our cross country adventure 📍South Florida tent camping for a week Hilarious idea in hindsight. We packed up, turned our apartment into an Airbnb and headed east with just this tent. After this sweat fest, bought a used 15 travel trailer for $10k and spent the next year visiting the 🇺🇸

A classic example of naïveté being an advantage! Fun to reminisce. I wrote some more and linked to Carlos’s full retrospective here https://x.com/jacksondahl/status/1880693173413924997

There are almost 20x more wallets holding $NOUNS than Nouns. Is this proliferation? 💁‍♀️
