New mass-data work will be interactive, clickable and minted this weekend; all are welcome ❤️; here, the earliest transactions on Ethereum, lines colored by call type; mouseover, click to go to Etherscan; peruse a ledger's curious history.

Ethereum as a mass compute circuit. Here, millions of its first transactions as connectors between wallets, clusters of communities computing value in their own little way, interconnected with the rest. Click into this thread for zooms 🔎

Spare moments to play; tendrils are transactions, frame contains emergent patterns beyond GENESIS, strange top right cluster = faucet, regions shaded inside are exchanges. #wip

Regional maps of an early ledger. #WIP First tens of thousands of transactions on Ethereum and convex hulls around wallets indicate GENESIS, Ethpool, Nanpool, Kraken, Poloniex and... Augur token sale. Dearest erstwhile Augur among earliest moments!

Read some of Token Supremacy. Picked it up, willing to be critiqued. Could barely get past the poorly researched tulip section. Book reinforces bias that many trad art folks just don't grow beyond cheap script for gatekeeping cool kids in high school.

The GENESIS wallets did not sit still. Tendrils quickly extended beyond the first distribution, activity clustered here and there, mixing ether into new places, new hubs, exchanges, mysterious places. Lost to time already. (block 0 to block 50,000)

In case there's any interest: I've listed for low a few of these outputs on Perpetual. The project populates visuals using direct calls to other contracts, culling from their data, some contracts years old. Listings here, and summary of projects on GH. There are 3 mini projects that went into Perpetual (2023/2024). Summary in posts below this one. https://opensea.io/collection/perpetual-vol-1 https://github.com/takenstheorem/perpetual

Last year, I sampled data from a years-old contract's memory to potentiate trillions of rhopalic poems tuned to express some curious qualities of our space

Birth of Ethereum, lines represent millions upon millions of transactions (color ~ call type; GENESIS ~ green). Mysterious tendrils flowing around the origin, wallet to wallet to wallet to... what were they doing?

"Course of the Zodiac," planetary latitudes, thought to be among the first time series visualizations by a monk likely transcribing it ~1,000 years ago.

My old 2022 post here discovering the sharp OFAC effects on Tornado & mining. What seems insurmountable can sometimes pass with time. Treasury dropped OFAC sanctions yesterday. https://x.com/takenstheorem/status/1560690035955011585

Pandemic, 5 years later. Impact on artists. Hundreds of pieces (dots) and their descriptions from the chain ~2018-2022 (x-axis). Lines = artist wallets. Red = when their piece mentions virus or health. Spot March 2020. (Many artists arrive with these thoughts, seen in reds clustering along edges; pandemic pensiveness, expression...)
