however, i think gen art is a _more native medium_ for NFTs than photography

NFTs are made of code and so is gen art. they feel at home as an NFT, while we've had photography in many forms already

gen art is also less ubiquitous than photography and still novel and more nascent

You can have gen art without a Blockchain/crypto

You can cryptographically authenticate a photograph.

What do you mean long form?

Any program you can write in solidity to generate art can also be written in any other language

But I agree that having the code on chain that generates uncurated but proven output is valuable and is a medium of art in its own right

Yes but I would argue that the style of long-form generative art ala Artblocks is not feasible without a decentralized blockchain. Having uncurated outputs raises the bar for the artists in a way that is just 🤌
