Something to keep in mind: The narrative of "layer 2's won't accrue value to ETH" is pushed by those who hold ETH competitor assets. ETH capturing value from scaling is not good for these competitor assets and long-term sucks the air out of them as their narratives fall apart.

There was a website that made a cool visualization of all major layer2 networks and their blocks. It updated in real time with boxes fillings of the gas usage. What was it ?

up to a 90% reduction in transaction costs. Credit to dev and blob, Ethereum competitors need to find another excuse to shit on it.

today I am grateful for @vitalik.eth's leadership over the last 7 years, he's repeatedly set a clear vision, articulated a startegy for achieving it, made hard calls when necessary (e.g. the rollup centric scaling roadmap), and rallied us all to work together to get there. proud to be building ethereum with him

how many people were involved in making this Ethereum upgrade happen? 12+ independent client teams? maybe 15+ rollup teams? tens of OSS libraries... tens of thousands of full nodes? almost a million validator instances? half a trillion dollars in market cap on the line... that's a lot of coordinating.

Blobs are part of the chain just like calldata is. Today (or rather, this week), default nodes store blobs temporarily, but with EIP 4444 calldata is going to get the same treatment. The endgame has for a long time been: all nodes do real-time validation; p2p networks store history.

One nice thing about EIP-4844 is how future-proof it is: 1. The only consensus change required to get us from where we are today to full 16 MB danksharding is a parameter change. 2. The point eval precompile returns the modulus, allowing rollups to be built to be forward-compatible with future changes to the modulus

last night i used sp1 to create a program that generates a validity proof that a given number is prime or not without knowing rust or using any crypto feels like a gamechanger to me. can't wait for these proofs to be snarked and verifiable in solidity (when i figure out how to do u32 sqrt it's over for yall)
