I know ghiblifying everything is fun, but it really showcases how if we don’t have effective IP protection for individuals by default we’ve ceded all value from creative generation to pre-existing capital owners with distribution + legal Also we basically turn all artists into interns working “for exposure”

Yeah I mentioned something along the lines of this a few months ago. It's like not paying researchers of a medicine for their years of research because they are not needed in mass producing a medicine. It disincentivizes further works of creation.

agree but I actually think it’s in some ways more insidious Creative work has always been mostly no money and no glory, but by lowering the bar to “creating” in this particular configuration of AI + no compensation you could basically crowd out everyone except folks who can sustain themselves without income (parent allowance, trust fund etc) without even any of the requisite “work” of creativity AND we’re left with homogenous art at least with stolen medicine production you get the medicine lol
