Will we see feed-algorithms-as-a-service (FAAAS) someday? Whereby any FC client allows the user to select their preferred algo from a list of open-source options published in a standard format to GitHub. Various algos would offer followers only, followers + their followers, language-specific, zero-censorship, OGs, etc

no technical reason why we wouldn’t see this API providers like @neynar and @airstack.eth already offer many different feeds with different characteristics but I wonder how many users want this level of flexibility vs just expecting client developers to do user research and ship the best curated feeds

I think we have been trained to not think about this plus we lack the mental models to do so. In academic studies where researcher gave people control over their feeds they love it (new skill) but said they will never use it because the platforms will not implement it. Peiple are too smart and need credible neutrality

very interesting... personally I would want this option so I'm not totally surprised by those results this is why I love Farcaster, we can finally see how the open Twitter experiment would have played out if they hadn't killed the APIs and third party clients

I am expecting fireworks- the awerness about this is just too high and bubbling up. Régulation in EU is already pushing big social media to open up their algo to researchers
