THE most insane place on the planet for people in hw and electronics. you can almost find anything, here, all at once. they not only have electronic parts supply, but they also have: - wholesale bulk buying - ICs - freight forwarding cos - repair shops https://x.com/jrurbanenetwork/status/1772649376264949996

going there in next few weeks :) tensed about the comms part, as none of the google services or western tech products work there. been recommended to buy a chinese sim and use a vpn, for safety i am gonna carry an android phone too.

i would highly encourage to spend 1 week or a month if possible there. there is so much ground to cover that even 1 month wouldn’t suffice.

Yeah it’s a bit jarring initially when you land in the mainland and realize that everything you know about the Internet who is not going to work in China. Thankfully we chat is pretty good and all the other apps are pretty good

I last went in 2018 and the vendor selection is wild. The https://hackaday.com/2024/03/13/review-the-new-essential-guide-to-electronics-in-shenzhen/ is also helpful. What to call different technical parts can be difficult and this helps. I had a full LED matrix setup running from the markets in 2 days.
