btw @vitalik.eth, what about the most basic of exploits - scammers going around the world, claiming they are from Worldcoin and using backdoored Orbs to scan people's eyes? If people ask, "Where's my airdrop" they'd respond, "It's going to take one business day to update our database and send the money".

In order to fool me into scanning my iris first they'd need to insert their fake orb into worldcoin's database so that it's recognized by the worldcoin app.

Because they didn't take the time to learn the minimum about the project from the official website and download the app? Sure, but people like that being fooled is not exclusive to the worldcoin case.

Yes but the downside of getting your iris scanned and used maliciously is bigger than from just losing some money to nigerian prince.
