btw @vitalik.eth, what about the most basic of exploits - scammers going around the world, claiming they are from Worldcoin and using backdoored Orbs to scan people's eyes? 

If people ask, "Where's my airdrop" they'd respond, "It's going to take one business day to update our database and send the money".

Theoretically these orbs wouldn't work with the system?

In order to fool me into scanning my iris first they'd need to insert their fake orb into worldcoin's database so that it's recognized by the worldcoin app.

To fool you - yes. 

To fool 50% of the world's population, no.

Yes but the downside of getting your iris scanned and used maliciously is bigger than from just losing some money to nigerian prince.
