Len Sassaman's widow, Meredith L Patterson, denied speculation that Len Sassaman is Satoshi Nakamoto in an interview with DL News. Patterson said HBO did not contact her during the filming of the documentary. The coincidence that Nakamoto disappeared in 2011 and Sassaman died the same year has led some to doubt his identity. Patterson said details such as some technical errors in Sassaman's early design and his use of a Mac system did not match Satoshi's characteristics.

QCP Capital analysis notes that despite the poor performance in early October, BTC has recovered to the level of last Monday. With the support of Uptober sentiment and strong non-farm data, Bitcoin gained support at the 60k position. The upcoming HBO Bitcoin documentary also brings more attention to the crypto market. The options market remains bullish, with investors continuing to buy the December 75k / 95k options portfolio. Keep an eye on this week's US CPI data, which could influence market expectations of a Fed rate cut.

At the Oct. 3 conference, BlackRock said bitcoin is a "safe haven asset," a global currency alternative, a global, decentralized, non-sovereign asset that can hedge against rising global chaos and declining trust in governments, banks and fiat currencies.

Why can't I request to join a channel? See the points from the FAQ below, but basically we wanted to avoid creating yet another inbox for owners. Additionally, owners may not want to have people requesting to join. Your channel, your rules. Additional thoughts 1. Channels are not hashtags. We tried that version for the last year or so. Didn't work. With the new direction, they are communities run by individuals or small groups. They are opinionated. We think that's a good thing. 2. One way to think of channels now is they are text-based Twitter Spaces—some people on stage, but a large audience. 3. Reminder: you can always cast in your home feed (goes to all of your followers) or create a new channel. 4. There are already a bunch of tools like Cura from @openrank, /channel-kit from @zachterrell, or @modbot from @haole to let channel owners opt in to have request to join flows. Or token gate with @moxie.eth or @hypersub. 5. We added a link in bio that works with frames to help make this easy.

@vrypan raises an important point about the tradeoffs of snapchains design. If we only have 10 nodes that can validate messages isn’t that bad for decentralization? Let’s start with the problem that Snapchain is solving. Our deltagraph network lets any hub add a new message at any time. As the network grows, failures between nodes increase and delays become inevitable. You have to be able to “check” your sync state with a large percentage of the network in a short amount of time and this breaks down quickly. When it does, users will complain about messages moving very slowly between apps, which will make them less likely to use Farcaster, and less likely for apps to be built.

Cross-posting a thought on staking from the other app: ------ Perhaps we should recognize that 32 ETH is much more of a barrier for stakers than bandwidth reqs, and temporarily do a trade where we up the bandwidth reqs a bit and in exchange drop the staking deposit minimum to eg. 16 or 24 ETH. It's net-good for both staking accessibility and scale. Then once we figure out peerdas, bandwidth reqs go back down, and once we figure out orbit SSF, the deposit minimum can drop to 1 ETH.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is appealing an earlier decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit regarding Web3 payments company Ripple, according to a filing on Wednesday. "We believe the district court's decision in Ripple conflicts with decades of Supreme Court precedent and securities law, and we look forward to presenting our case before the Second Circuit." An SEC spokesman said. Earlier, a judge ordered Ripple on Aug. 7 to pay a civil penalty of $125 million, well below the $2 billion the SEC had originally requested.

EigenLayer has been criticized after it was revealed that the pledge rewards received by early investors are not subject to token locking. Investors and community members have complained about the lack of transparency in the supply of EigenLayer tokens. The total supply of EIGEN is fixed at 1.68 billion, with a circulation of 186 million, FDV reaching $5.8 billion and a market cap (excluding uncirculated tokens) of $650 million. Many of the questions raised by community members stem from some of these locked-in tokens, which were purchased by early investors in heavily discounted funding rounds. Investors who bought in EigenLayer's $14.4 million seed round, $50 million Series A round, and the latest $100 million round in February can now pledge their locked tokens for a return. A total of 130 million EIGEN tokens are currently pledged. Many people think these are all part of the claimed tokens, but in fact, 70 million of them belong to this small group of early investors.

Bounty for renaming Bountycaster since we're expanding outside of only bounties and Farcaster login. Think peer to peer marketplace like Craigslist + social + crypto 1000 USDC if we end up using the name you suggest as our rebrand. Have a good lead but want to get more suggestions. Doesn't have to be descriptive of what we do, can be a name that we grow into Criteria: - no "bounty" or "far" or "cast" in the name - must have .com, .xyz or .org domain available for <$20k - no major conflicts with another crypto company - you can shout it in a loud bar and people will hear what you're saying @bountybot
