Most graduates from academic centers see a few cases of pathology in a year. A state school or even community graduate sees the same amount in a few days. You want a physician who’s seen 1000s of each case so they can get you home without complications, and spot the outlier issues early and fix them. Not sure I entirely agree. For run of the mill diseases, someone who trained at a small/non-academic may be more efficient. But for more complex pathology, the breadth narrow subspecialists at an ivory tower institution cannot be understated.
