i'm pro the name change (as a client dev / not dan's employee / im not being held hostage) why: - i decided to build supercast because farcaster provided good enough distribution and good enough tech - the name change doesn't change the tech - the name change can potentially cut distribution for other clients BUT it will net more distribution in long term

I agree this is the right move from a growth standpoint. but alt clients should feel welcomed as farcaster grows, and the rename signals the opposite. decentralization matters and should be encouraged, especially now. sure, but why would someone build a client if everyone who hears about farcaster just ends up using the official app? after the rename you should actively counter this perception by promoting alternative clients at every opportunity and making it clear that supporting them is a core value prop. if you don’t do it now, most developers won’t see it as worth the effort. and if you wait until the network is much larger, the incentives to promote alt clients will be even weaker.
