Why are so many VCs stuck in the mindset that “innovation can’t happen outside of SF/NYC/London”? I’ve literally had a pitch meeting where a VC asked where I was calling from and after answering Kansas, asked with a pitying face, “why?”

from my experience, a median vc fund today is just a financial vehicle to dump LP funds into startups that fit a thesis

median vc don't care that much about the potential win, but about looking smart in front of their investors and raising the next fund

yeah that's the ideal world and i wish to us all to only deal with situations like that

the experience im referring to above: friends who are trying to "make it" as vcs and learn the hard truth of running a fund without a brand name or a huge a win before

Fascinating, I was unaware of this side of the equation — I have experiences with LPs that were holding a strong level of trust in the due diligence of VCs that the need to question investments was relatively less involved.
