What if a nation state wanted to 51% attack Bitcoin and Ethereum? New research suggests it would take months, cost up to $22B for BTC or $34B for ETH, and ultimately be unprofitable https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4727999

Imagine a scenario where Chinese citizens were using Bitcoin to escape the oppression. They could spend 22 billion, a trivial amount for them, and take it down. It’s not about the profit for a nation state.

I don't think profitability would be a major driving factor for most nation states.

You mean it only costs 1.5 days of US spending to 51% attack BTC?
