if you were building a consumer crypto product and got nos from every crypto vc you pitched to but managed to raise from traditional consumer vc would you still include crypto in your narrative or would you bounce from this space

Iโd drop the word crypto and focus on the benefit and value to your customers Not bc of where your investors are from but because that is the way to more deeply engage/reach more of your customers But also if your investors are strategic they most likely have contacts and connections in more traditional consumer networks that could help you gain traction as a consumer product as opposed to a crypto consumer product You dont need to bounce from the space just adjust the messaging and positioning We all want our nails to look poppin and make interacting easier whether we are in crypto or not ๐ ๐ป

Shouldnโt think of crypto as a space but a tool. If it doesnโt serve the product donโt use it

I wouldn't include it in the narrative but I'd keep it in the tech stack if I still thought it was valuable. I think the only reason to have crypto in your narrative is to appeal to crypto VCs right now - it's not a winning value prop with the consumer market

You decide on your narrative, not them. I also think the story to VCs are different than your end customers, so there is some flexibility there ๐ค

i think crypto's PR problem is eventually going materially hurt you in some way, if you're not seeing any upside from that association i would bounce until there's a positive value prop in taking the reputational hit

i would play both sides as long as i could. the crypto vcs are wary at that moment, but if there's a bull market they will get loose. but you do have a product that could transcend crypto, so shouldn't feel too bound imo.

Iโd still continue coz Iโm here for value proposition of the tech - may add abstraction but definitely here for the tech
