imo the lying and insulting one does to a bot is *generally* closer to the kinds of actions children do to test and understand the boundaries of their world than actual malevolence none of us know the limits this is all play (except ofc there are now live $$$ rounds in the chamber)

Would I do some of the stuff folks are doing right now? Probably not, but some people play rougher than others and we really do need to buckle up for the insanification of online interactions that is about to happen with the advent of bots that can credibly emulate human communication and emotions

whilst limit testing obviously crosses the line, i still think there’s respectful ways of doing things (black hat vs white hat) sometimes to me it feels like i signed up to a ‘how we should human’ code of conduct at character select whilst other people don’t seem to be aware it even exists

I get that, but tbh after 20 years of deep internet usage my assumption is always that somebody will try to break your toy, and they’ll start MUCH faster if there is “money in a jar” involved Not victim blaming in any way, i just want my friends who haven’t really touched this world in visceral way to realize that other people will act in many parrerbs they wouldn’t dream of acting and it’s only going to happen more and more.
