imo the lying and insulting one does to a bot is *generally* closer to the kinds of actions children do to test and understand the boundaries of their world than actual malevolence none of us know the limits this is all play (except ofc there are now live $$$ rounds in the chamber)

Would I do some of the stuff folks are doing right now? Probably not, but some people play rougher than others and we really do need to buckle up for the insanification of online interactions that is about to happen with the advent of bots that can credibly emulate human communication and emotions

It’s going to feel bad to read the exchanges, esp for folks who mostly avoided the cesspools of the internet til now it’s also important for you to decide how much emotional energy to spend on behalf of a text generator that truly (and I can’t stress this enough) does not give a shit about you or the interaction

whilst limit testing obviously crosses the line, i still think there’s respectful ways of doing things (black hat vs white hat) sometimes to me it feels like i signed up to a ‘how we should human’ code of conduct at character select whilst other people don’t seem to be aware it even exists

This feels scary but better to be prepared than blindsided “buckle up for the insanification of online interactions that is about to happen with the advent of bots that can credibly emulate human communication and emotions”
