Are memecoins good or bad? 

I think they sit somewhere in the triangle between buying pokemon cards and going to the casino and day trading. 

I don't personally don't do much of those things, but I understand the appeal and don't think we need to shame people who do it.

not inherently bad but personally:
- they’re pretty dumb as far as speculation goes, almost all guaranteed to go to 0 long-term
- they tend to attract immoral influencers even more so than the ‘legit’, utility coin
- volatility even crazier than alts meaning new users got/get rugged even faster than we typically see (couple weeks to couple months vs couple months to couple years)

as a positive: they do let you experience the cycles, ebbs and flows of crypto at breakneck speeds which one could argue lets you speedrun gaining experience of markets
