Has nostalgia been manufactured and commoditized to a point where it's no longer nostalgia because: A) Those were never your moments to begin with B) It is so present that you can see it on a daily basis, which removes what the feeling is supposed to be? Maybe I'm crazy.

I feel this a lot with the Christmas -- so much Christmas imagery is basically New England and small town Germany in winter. I grew up in Texas, literally never had a "white Christmas."

Yeah, I think when it comes to marketing and advertising it gets used a lot to create these emotions just to sell you something that may not even be linked to how they made you nostalgic. I really don't like that stuff at all. It creates a feeling like you've been fooled.
