Has nostalgia been manufactured and commoditized to a point where it's no longer nostalgia because: A) Those were never your moments to begin with B) It is so present that you can see it on a daily basis, which removes what the feeling is supposed to be? Maybe I'm crazy.

To try to explain it another way - I feel like I see so many things designed to evoke this emotion to the point where it dilutes the emotion itself. A lot of marketing and advertising takes aim at feelings of nostalgia, too. But then sometimes the images themselves are so generic I ask whose memories these even are.

I feel this a lot with the Christmas -- so much Christmas imagery is basically New England and small town Germany in winter. I grew up in Texas, literally never had a "white Christmas."
