In a weird way with the advent of social media this is happening at scale that is unprecedented The other weird thing is all of our preferences are starting to converge; go to Italy in the summer if you are in the US, go to Venice, get a house, get the same instagram ad furniture, wear lulu lemon Unconsciously were being herded, dangerous if you are not present

The most popular national parks often disappoint me because of the large crowds and the need to book far in advance. Everyone wants to go to the same places, it seems. OTOH, by attracting so many people, it leaves many lesser-known parks, national forests, and BLM lands under utilized, so I've learned to love those famous national parks.

Part of me for years as a photographer has wanted to go and re-shoot Ansel Adams' iconic landscapes. Because that was what my instructors held up as the mecca of non-portrait photography. Whereas, crowds? Heat? I don't cope well with either. Give me moss woods and quiet gurgling streams winding their way past hushed paths.
