i don't really think it'll affect users that have an established account already. They'll get in invite link one way or the other. The big problem is newer people, imagine you just join this app and you try and cast in different channels & every time you do it says 'You need to be invited to this channel to cast in it'

i def can see that as a deterrent for trying to explore channels.  seems it also hurts smaller channels looking to grow and promote with rounds etc. and requires moderators to spend more time trying to manage vs grow. hmmm. tbd
