hot take: i think most people will just use exchanges as their bridge to L2s and bridges are overrated

Maybe in the short term, but I doubt that will be the case in the long run. Bridging should be abstracted away from the end user. (Possibly by the wallet) When that happens, you will need decentralized bridges to facilitate the actual bridging. Not CEXes.
