That is an excellent question. 

Mobile usages has already taken our finger print and, for some, face scan.

If the code is open, auditable and we know how the records are being stored, used and processed, I would be okey with joining them.

I see you point and there are many face to this. 
Most I know does not care about their privacy, forget about preserving or fighthing for it. 

Gov does not have policy in place to enforce set of rule. Only EU is doing something with GDPR. 

Education could be one factor.
Apple is too big to enfore anything but we....

But isn't the iPhone code closed and people still let it get the face data?
