Please help a noob.

Say I have some $ETH on Optimism and want to buy a NFT on Base. Why cant I just sign and approve on Base and fund deducted at Optimism. 

Apart from cringe twitt of TVL, what are the challanges as brigding is such bad UX and cant imagine a non-techy to fully understand it.

deposit OP ETH on CB and then immediately withdrawal to Base on CB is the easiest and cheapest way, but agree it’s annoying
