I noticed that open source seems to come natural for folks based out of Berlin. Any theories as to why? When I was hiring applicants out of Berlin had a notable open source contributions. Their projects are often well structured with clear instructions for contributions. Many open source / paid hosted products.

You're onto something here, I think @timdaub.eth and @lefteris.eth are also from Berlin, both building heavily on OSS
