What a story!

It's a dream gig though. I would have never acted like he did. Such designers make it worse for all of us because people start to micromanage. I never missed a deadline in 20 years.

What i would have done in this situation - if you see you won't make it in time - hire some help. 1, 2, 5 extra hands. He can afford it.

Can I say something - I don't care about the designer. Bad actors are a fact of life. I'm mad at the guy for paying 60k AFTER they ghosted him.
