gm, if you don't know the story behind 10k steps, you're in for a treat japanese scientists hooked up step counters to japanese office workers because japenese office workers were healthier than other countries they got 8k steps on average usa heart doctors looked at this data and said us can do better and added 2k

10k steps has no scientific causality data, and even worse β€” research points at the fact that there are diminishing returns *after 3500 steps a day* us doctors, once again, gave people false confidence that people are doing right things to stay healthy, while hiding true reasons behind obesity and coronary disease
